So, I am still processing all my emotions from Tim and Kate’s wedding Saturday. It was a beautiful day in every way possible, their family was so emotional and excited about them tying the knot, it was proof that they are so good together. Tim and Kate met over 10 yrs ago, back when they were in High School. They had a long distance relationship throughout school and then Kate moved closer to Tim, so they could continue their relationship. Later, Tim went into the Marines and went overseas, where he was injured so badly it nearly killed him. This time was so trying for Kate, she felt as though she was going to lose her best friend, and that was incredibly hard. Tim was very lucky to make it through and come back from Afghanistan with only scars. That time made them both realize how precious life was, and how much they love each other. Shortly thereafter Tim proposed to Kate and of course she said yes!
They were married at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic church in Pleasanton California, and their reception was located at The Canyon View Hall in San Ramon. The ceremony was beautiful, and the priest said a lot of great things for them to take into their marriage. He had a lot of wonderful words of wisdom. He councils a lot of couples most of them have severe issues in their marriage so he has a lot of experience in marriage issues. So he was giving everyone advice, and I took some notes. He told everyone that one of the biggest problems in marriage is that couples stop dating. I think this is so true, and from my own experience, this is one of the easiest things to stop doing. My husband and I have been married nine years and we still date, but it does take work. One of the other things that he said to them was that Marriage is like a Garden. He told them that they need to take care of their garden by watering it, planting more things in it, pulling all the weeds and then they will enjoy the fruit. This analogy was amazing and I will always remember what he told them that day.
Another amazing memory from their wedding was when Kate’s father did the toast. He was talking about all the years they dated in High School, and how Tim was a skater kid. I got the impression that he didn’t like Tim very much back then. He said Tim didn’t call him by his name until years later, and he thought that she would break up with him at some point. But, he said that when he left to go over seas he realized how much Kate loved Tim. He also said that Tim came back, “A Hell of a Man!” He had tears in his eyes, and I could see the love he has for Tim and how happy he is for his first daughter! It was beautiful!
I left their wedding feeling as though I was adopted into a new family, and I can say that that family is full of so much love it is almost ridiculous. They all LOVE to dance and that is why I choose to put the dancing ones on my blog. Thank you so much for allowing me into your lives, and I am so thankful to have been there with you to capture your amazing relationship & wedding on camera!
And in their priests words, “The Best is Yet to Come.”
