The Rio Grande love

Anson & Jessica are amazing.  I typically meet my clients at least a few times before their special day but, this was different because they both live in New Mexico.  We had a Skype meeting which, I have to say, was awkward for me, but it went great.  We met at their rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding and we hit it off as though we were family.  I was also lucky to have my husband there to second shoot for me.   I was so blessed to have been able to shoot their wedding at The Valhalla in South Lake Tahoe, and they have a story that is so sweet.  These two love birds met in a setting you may picture in a romantic, yet pretty laid back chick flick.  Jessica took her dog down to her favorite hiking spot down at the Rio Grande, as she would regularly do, but this time she noticed a man fishing with his daughter.  She thought nothing of it (except probably that it was cute) until little Alyssa came over to pet her dog.  It was there that she met Anson and they instantly found themselves in great conversation.  They discovered that they actually lived near each other.  It was as if Alyssa chose Jessica that day for her daddy.  If you look really closely you see Anson and Alyssa in the background fishing, this was taken before they met that very day.

So, after they met that day they became friends. Then, Jessica had a huge accident that brought them even closer.  In April 2011 Jessica was at her job, which was at the veterinarian clinic, when a 2,000lb horse ran her over, which caused a few bulging disks.   Anson took care of her during that time, and I think that really shaped their relationship.  In June of 2011 Anson & Alyssa took her down to the Rio Grande where they first met and proposed to her declaring he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her!  So very romantic I’d say!

So they married June 9th 2012, a year after he proposed, and their wedding was fantastic.  The weather in South Lake Tahoe was beautiful, but a bit breezy.  They were surrounded by all their closest friends and family that day and the love was overflowing!  On our way up to Tahoe the night before my husband and I were talking about how excited we were for this wedding.  We felt a connection with them and being able to share that day with them is something I will always remember.  They handed out Horseshoes to all the guests and they had everyone’s name engraved on them.  Anson did every single one of them by hand, and Aram and I were included, which really touched our hearts.  The best part was Anson stood in front of all his loved ones and said these horseshoes represented not just good luck, but that they would be a reminder of ALL the blessings God has given us.  It was beautiful!  Owen the DJ did a special anniversary dance for Jessica’s Great Aunt & Uncle, who were celebrating their 56th anniversary that very same day, that brought some tears to my eyes.  They toasted to many years of marriage for them and hoped that they would remember them on their 56th anniversary.  After the dances Anson & Jessica walked out to the pier with me to get a few more photos and there was a brief moment when I was shooting when I almost fell of the pier & just about gave the bride a heart attack! Instead, it brought about a great smile!  See the photo below.

So Congrats Anson & Jessica Waugh, may God fill your hearts more and more everyday and may you find love for each other for years to come!
